Hilltops Region
Hilltops Council was established on May 12, 2016 and includes the former council areas of Boorowa, Harden and Young in New South Wales.
Harden Murrumburrah is an area steeped in history. Gold was in the mid 1800’s and a town soon followed.
It carries the distinction of being the first port of call for Colonel James MacKay when he was forming the First Australian Light Horse Brigade in 1897.
Explore the historical sights and learn about local history. The Museum in Murrumburrah has much to fascinate, particularly for rail enthusiasts.
Have a picnic by the waterfall in the local park. Look for the ducks that swim under the bridge.
Take a drive through the lovely Harden Murrumburrah area. There are magnificent view along many of the roads.
Relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Harden Shire. Visit the local orchards during the fruit season (November to February).
If you prefer to explore the countryside Harden makes an ideal base with Young, Binalong, Cootamundra and picturesque villages all within a 30 minute drive.
